Last year at Debconf Linus Torvalds held a Q&A session and on you can get a really good insight on who is he and what he does from it, I\u2019m posting some excerpts I like about the culture of project correctness at 14:37<\/p>\n

I agree that some people might be put off by that\u2026 but on the other hand, I know what\u2026 in the end I don\u2019t care. I care about technology and I’ve actually seen projects that took the whole correctness so far that the project no longer it\u2019s about the technology.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

and about respect at 18:00<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t respect people unless they deserve the respect, there are people who think that respect is something that should be given and I happen to be one of the people who are perfectly happy saying no, respect should be earned and without being earned you don\u2019t get it. It\u2019s really that simple and I, and not everyone agrees and that\u2019s fine too\u2026 there are people I refuse to work with, it cuts both ways and I realize that.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Most wrong with the world\u2026 you know I\u2019m \u2026 yeah, \u00a0I\u2019m famous for being a negative nelly and just shouting at people and being an ass in public and using 20 percent curse words in any random mail, the fact is most the time, I\u2019m actually very happy, it\u2019s just that when I\u2019m happy I am quiet right, so I\u2019m not really all that down on things It\u2019s just that when you see me in public it\u2019s usually something went wrong, right?<\/p>\n

The world is actually mostly good, I mean, Linux it\u2019s doing great and I am really have no real complain, but then I get up on the wrong side of the bed and I want to bite somebody\u2019s head off and somebody sends me a patch that break and I got really upset.<\/p>\n

Actually, yeah, I mean part of it is that actually I enjoy arguments; I\u2019m like people still quote the argument I had with Andrew Tanenbaum 23 years ago, because I was this young stupid university student and what do I do? I start arguing with the professor who made the operating system that I was using, right?<\/p>\n

So I\u2019m argumentative, I get negative but I\u2019m on the whole, I mean things are so good [\u2026]<\/p>\n

And even I am famous for my media rant [\u2026] I like to say that maybe was helpful it certainly raise the profile of the problem\u2026 maybe sometimes cursing is good.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
